If laughter is the best medicine…

…this family should be able to kick cancer’s butt no problem!

Saturday’s session was so great, in so many ways – for me, for them, and for Kids Kickin’ Cancer. The session was my first donated session to Kids Kickin’ Cancer, a great local charity helping families with kids with cancer.  It was also the family’s first family photo in more than five years. One of the first things mom said was, “I’ve been trying to do this for five years. But the last time we rescheduled, Sean was then admitted to the hospital…” And for me, well, those who know me best, know this is all I’d do if it were up to me!

Anyway, we pretty much just laughed and had a great time! It really was an honor for me to capture not only these photos for this amazing family, but help them create such fun memories. I assure you, there is no shortage of love in this family and this my friends, is what photography is about. Here are a few of my favorites (a few disclaimers: I edited on my laptop, so hopefully the color isn’t too far off, there was LOTS of green, and Brendan, don’t hate me for including your funny face one, we all know you were following Sean’s lead that I didn’t catch) since I just can’t wait to edit the whole session before I share. :)

Here is to kickin’ cancer’s butt!

And hey guys, just pretend I’m not here. ;)

Birthday fun!

Happy 1st Birthday to my super sweet godson! And HUGE thanks to Cakes by Paula for the awesome (and yummy!) cake we “used”.

The evolution of a smile…

If you can’t tell, we had fun! (He did a little showing off with the standing up

A dream…

Today’s little princess was a true dream. She slept nearly the whole time we tortured her with headband changes and new positions. :) One day, I know she’ll be thankful.

BTW – That pink and green cocoon was made by my mega talented knitting mom!  99% of my knit props are her works of art. Thanks again mom!

New year… new baby

Photographing this little man was the perfect way to start 2012!

Favorite

Sessions like these remind me that family sessions really are my favorite! For me, nothing beats capturing the interactions of families and siblings and a family just being their adorable selves! Its been two years since I met this beautiful family and it was so fun to see  just how the kid’s little personalities have developed. Last time Little Miss wasn’t standing without holding on to something and was all smiles, while Big E was shy and may have shed a few tears. Yesterday, they kept me laughing with their inquisitive little personalities, silly faces and sweet smiles.

So here is a quick preview because I just can’t keep them to myself, but need to get back to editing the rest!

They did so great, we took a break for high-fives!

Check out these eyes. This is straight out of the camera!

He is so grown up and so good at this!

two.0

I’ve been photographing LOTS of two year olds lately and while they always keep me on my toes, its photos like these that make it worth it.

Couldn’t resist

I’m way behind with blogging sessions (I promise I will catch up this weekend), but I had to share this one I just came across as I’m editing… It should have a caption like “Hey sis, tell me what you want from Santa!” :)

Organic Blooms are in the house!

And in the woods! :) I don’t have all that much well lit wall space in my house, so I took these beauties outside for their modeling debut.

Let me know if you’d like to add any of these beauties or a custom collection to your home. (Holiday order deadline is November 19th)

Fall + Family

Thankfully the rain cleared out for us to get this morning’s session in at Borderland State Park. I love fall mornings and apparently a LOT of other families and photographers do too. I can’t imagine that any of the others were as gorgeous a family as my clients though. :) See for yourself with this fun sneak peak…
